A MESSAGE FROM

ROBYN MIDGLEY

Dear Colleague

Technology and what it can do for our changing world in the medical space, has always fascinated me.

Now that we have entered the Fourth Industrial Revolution, we need to develop new ways of working to meet the needs of our patients in the digital era. The onset of the COVID-19 Pandemic has accelerated the need for Hand Therapists to embrace technology, adapt to the changing needs of society and continue to deliver world-class intervention to the patients we serve both online and in the clinic.

Familiarity usually stops many people from embracing change and new ways of working, but right now, we don’t have the luxury of familiarity or complacency. We need to rise to the challenge or succumb to the powers of the virus. It is not in our nature to do the latter and so we need to learn as much as we can from leaders in our industry and create Virtual Hand Clinics.

I am privileged and honoured to be hosting this webinar with Michelle Coil.  Michelle & I have shared a passion for Virtual Hand Therapy and interestingly, we both have sons who are drummers. We are very like-minded in many ways. It seemed very natural to come together to present this webinar and share our knowledge and skills with you.

Michelle is highly respected in the teletherapy industry and spends a lot of her time helping therapists launch successful teletherapy careers. She is always very generous with her knowledge and willingness to share her insights and experience. At a time like this, when resources are limited, we are only too grateful to have Michelle share valuable insights with us, in a practical manner so that we can action our online clinics immediately.

I encourage you to attend this event and look forward to sharing this experience with you. It seems that for the foreseeable future, Virtual Hand Clinics are the future of hand therapy.  We should all be inspired by the words of  John Kehoe who said "Your success helps many people, your failure helps no-one'. During a Pandemic, it is our ethical and moral responsibility to become successful virtual Hand Therapists. So let's do this together.

See you online,

Robyn Midgley
