A MESSAGE FROM ROBYN MIDGLEY

Hi there

Whether you are a CHT who has been in practice for 20 years or a newly qualified Hand Therapist, there is always something that you can learn about the advanced clinical assessment of the hand and wrist. Having a sound understanding of Anatomical & Biomechanical principles of the hand and wrist assessment will aid your diagnosis and enable you to treat your patients effectively, as well as appropriately refer on to hand surgeons.  Many patients present late to hand therapy and present with secondary complications that make the rehabilitation process even more challenging. Having a detailed understanding of the complexities of the presentation of a variety of disorders is paramount to achieving successful outcomes for our patients. This webinar will enable you to consolidate existing assessment philosophies and learn new assessment skills which you can implement to take your practice to new heights and achieve better results for your patients during the rehabilitation process.

I am privileged and honoured to have Mirella Deisher share her expert knowledge and expertise in this subject. Mirella's teaching is exceptional. her passion for teaching has led her to developing the Virtual Hand to Shoulder Fellowship Program. The program facilitates expertise in the examination and treatment of hand & upper extremity conditions and bridges the gap between theory and practice patterns and produces hand therapists that not only have a sound theoretical framework, but therapists who are excellent clinicians who become valuable members of an inter-disciplinary team.

I thank Mirella for  extending this once-off opportunity learning opportunity to you.

Dr Andrew Barrow is a Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in Hand and Upper Limb Surgery. He operates out of two of Johannesburgs top private Hospitals. Dr Andrew Barrow did a Upper Limb Fellowship at Wrightington Hospital in 2003 and was an American-British-Canadian Travelling Fellow in 2008. This prestigious 5 week Fellowhip is for surgeons who have been Consultants for 10 complete years, and offers the surgeon an exceptional academic experience  that is highly regarded by all participating Orthopedic Associations. Dr Andrew Barrow is an invaluable asset to the Johannesburg community that he serves.

I am also excited to announce a project I have been working on - The 40 CE Challenge. This is an opportunity for you to earn your CE's in a dynamic way so that you gain skill and expertise to enhance your practice and make a difference in patient's lives.

I really encourage you to attend this event and look forward to sharing this experience with you.

See you there,

Robyn Midgley
